Tipping Tips
The casino industry employees rely heavily on your generosity. Please reward these hard working people with a gratuity. One of the first things we do before our trip is be sure to have plenty of one dollar bills handy at least $20. We have a few suggestions, but nothing is carved in stone. The receivers are very appreciative of your kindness. After all remember "Good Kharma".
Valet parking attendants - $1-2 - Special Requests - $5+
Taxi Cab drivers - 15% of fare
Shuttle drivers - $1.00 for 1-2 in your party
Bellmen $2-5 Depending on how much you will be needing them later.
Skycaps - $1 per bag depending on weight and size of bags
Hotel Housekeeping - $1 a day ... hey I wouldn't pick up after you for that :-)
Room Service - 15-20%
Restaurant Waiters - 15-20%
Buffet - $1 per person is nice.
Cocktail Waitresses - $1 per drink and that includes water. Water weights as much as a martini and she or he has to carry it just as far.
Dealers - These are most appreciated. Several ways to tip a dealer. You may tip a dealer a side bet next to your bet or on top of your bet. Dealers usually enjoy being able to participate in the game. If you place his tip on top of yours and it wins you keep the original chip and he collects the winnings from his bet you have set aside. Or you may want to just hand him cash or chips when you leave the table. I usually tip every 30 minutes or so with a chip or a bet. This is entirely up to you.
Slot Attendants - If you are winning be nice share a little, after all they are bringing you your jackpot winnings! It's just good Kharma. At least $20 for $1200 and up. If it's the huge biggie jackpot, be generous.
Casino Host and Hostess - These wonderful people are not allowed to accept money tips. But a nice little gift from your area or something at Christmas is graciously appreciated. I have found dining certificates and store gift cards are some of their favorites. Check to see what is appropriate, some casinos have a $25 gift limit.
Hope this helps. Please Please remember these service people. The other day a valet told me only 20% of the people tip, this shocked me. I hope you are in the 20%!
Happy Casinoing!
