Caesars Atlantic City opened Palace East in late 2006. An exclusively Asian games area, Palace East includes 22 table games such as Pai Gow tiles and poker, mini-baccarat, baccarat tables and even slot machines. Palace East was designed with a grand palace-like theme using many Asian-influenced historical elements including latticework, feng shui, ancient Korean motif tile designs and more. KWI, an Asian restaurant and noodle bar is located inside Palace East and has counter seating as well as table seating.

The Pier Shops at Caesars
The Pier Shops at Caesars is a high-end retail, dining and entertainment complex on the Boardwalk and connected to Caesars Atlantic City via a sky bridge. It features a world-class roster of elite retailers including Gucci, Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton, Armani A/X, Bebe, Burberry and Tiffany & Co. Restaurants include Sonsie, Trinity Irish Bar and Carvery, Game On!, Phillips Seafood, Souzai Sushi & Sake, and Stephen Starr's Buddakan and The Continental. Jeffrey Chodorow's rumjungle restaurant/nightclub concept is under construction, and a wedding chapel named One Atlantic is also planned for mid-2007. The end of The Pier Shops, hundreds of feet into the ocean, features a free, hourly indoor "dancing fountains" show choreographed to lights and music.

Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa phase I expansion
Summer 2006, Borgata unveiled the first phase of a $200 million 500,000 square foot expansion. The first phase added slots, table games and increased the poker room from 34 to 85 tables, making it the largest in Atlantic City. A new nightclub called mur.mur and increased space for Spa Toccare are both complete. Three new dining establishments feature celebrity chefs Bobby Flay, Michael Mina and Wolfgang Puck, and several casual dining outlets are located in The Cafeteria, an upscale food court. Whim, a new retail concept, is also part of the expansion.

Bella Condominiums
The former 27-story Regency Apartments on Connecticut and Pacific Avenues have been redesigned into 200 ultra-luxury Bella Condominiums. The building features an elegant entryway, lavish European-style interior, glass-enclosed swimming pool and solarium and a fitness center open 24-hours. Each condo features private balconies, Travertine floors, imported Italian cabinets and stainless steel appliances. Look for additional elegant condo complexes to be built in the same area in the next few years.

Gardner's Basin additions
Adding to its rustic architecture and historic setting, an Arts and Crafts Colony opened in Gardner's Basin in summer 2006. The six cabana-style structures offer a plethora of specialty items like watercolor paintings and hand-crafted puppets. Three additional cabanas will open in summer of 2007. And for the adventurer, the Web Feet Watersports store specializes in beach and water sports gear, and kayak and bicycle rentals. Aquarium exhibits include an octopus that opens its own food jar, and a diver who hand-feeds the sharks, rays and other sealife every Saturday morning.

Atlantic City International Airport Route Expansion
Spirit Airlines resumed service from Detroit beginning in May 2006, with connecting service to Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The new flights are served with a Spirit Airbus A319 aircraft holding 138 passengers. Also, Delta Air Lines began offering non-stop service between Delta's largest hub in Atlanta and the Atlantic City International Airport in June 2006. These flights connect customers from nearly 200 worldwide destinations via Atlanta. In the works is a 1,400-space parking garage to be completed in mid-2008.

When it opens in late 2007, the $325 million Water Club at Borgata will be a 43-story hotel tower featuring 800 guest rooms and suites, 18,000-square-feet of meeting space, and six retail shops. But the tower's motif is water, and it's centerpiece will be a two-story, 36,000-square foot spa including 15 treatment rooms, 25-yard lap pool and fitness center. In fact, guests will have the choice of two indoor swimming pools and two outdoor heated swimming pools.

Harrah's Atlantic City expansion

A Red Door spa with 24-treatment rooms and one of the country's largest indoor swimming pool are also in the works. The centerpiece of the project is a 47-story, 964-room hotel tower featuring 183-suites and 13-super-suites for high rollers. When completed, Harrah's will be the tallest hotel casino in Atlantic City. The new buffet and retail stores are scheduled to open mid-February 2007, and the Red Door Spa is scheduled to open the end of May 2007.
