Country
superstar Clint Black takes the stage
at the Tropicana June 7
Since exploding onto the country music scene, superstar Clint Black has
performed for millions of music fans across the country and around the
world. On Saturday, June 7, 2008, he’ll perform for you in The
Tropicana Showroom.
Clint Black’s music, including four #1 singles from his debut album, became
the catalyst for the resurgence in the popularity of country music in the
early ‘90s, and his live concert performances attract fans of all musical
styles. Any fan who has seen him live knows to expect more than a music
concert. He is an accomplished musician who goes all out in concert, moving
from guitar to drums and harmonica with the ease of a master. He is also
considered one of the funniest guys in country music, whose engaging
personality immediately connects with an audience. All of this, combined
with some of the most memorable songs ever recorded and one of country
music’s most distinctive voices make Clint Black’s live concerts an
unforgettable experience.
One of music’s most successful artists, Black has sold millions of records
worldwide and has nearly two dozen number one hits, and as many Top 5 and
Top 10 singles to his credit. His debut CD, Killin’ Time, set the standard
for the artist and the industry when an unprecedented four singles from the
recording hit the #1 spot and the CD went on to sell three million copies.
Those early hit singles, like “A Better Man,” “Killin’ Time,” and “Walkin’
Away” were soon joined by more hits: “Put Yourself In My Shoes,” “We Tell
Ourselves,” “Something That We Do,” “Nothin’ But the Taillights,” “When I
Said I Do,” “Spend My Time” and many more.
Black’s latest single is a remake of the Hollies’ classic “Long Cool Woman,”
a song that will be included on the artist’s new CD, set for release summer
2008. Like anything he records, Black put his own special spin on this 1972
pop hit, giving it a country flavor that fits the song quite well. For those
who can’t wait, the single is included on his first ever-digital EP, titled
The Long Cool EP and available now on digital sites.
Show time on June 7 is 9 p.m. Tickets are priced at $65, $85 and $100 and
are on sale on April 26, 2008. Tickets available through Ticketmaster at
www.ticketmaster.com or via phone at 1.800.736.1420, or at the Tropicana Box
Office, located on the 1st floor of the North Tower.
Come and meet those dancing feet as 42nd Street
comes to the Tropicana Showroom, March 16 – April 30
Broadway’s song and dance extravaganza, 42nd Street, promises toe-tapping
excitement as it struts into the Showroom at the Tropicana Casino & Resort
on Sunday, March 16, and runs through Wednesday, April 30.
42nd Street is the second longest running American musical in Broadway
history. The lively show follows the production of “Pretty Lady,” beginning
with auditions in the opening act. Audience members are introduced to the
full cast: choreographer, Andy Lee; the writers, Bert and Maggie;
glamorously leading lady, Dorothy Brock; leading man Billy Lawlor; and
up-and-coming starlet, Peggy Sawyer.
Ingénue Peggy Sawyer lands her first job in the chorus of a new Broadway
show. When the star, Miss Dorothy Brock, has an accident, Peggy is given the
chance of a lifetime. It’s up to young Peggy Sawyer to save the day and the
show.
42nd Street’s music is by Harry Warren and lyrics by Al Dubin. The amazing
score includes such fan-favorites as “I Only Have Eyes for You,” “We’re in
the Money,” “Sunny Side of Every Situation,” “Lullaby of Broadway,” “Shuffle
Off to Buffalo,” and of course, “42nd Street.”
During its long run, 42nd Street has won a Tony Award for Best Musical and
one for Best Revival of a Musical. Other awards include a Theater World
Award, Drama Desk Award, Laurence Olivier Award and an Evening Standard
Award.
42nd Street takes place in the Showroom at the Tropicana Casino & Resort
March 16 through April 30. Tickets are $25.00 and are available through
Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or via phone at 1-800-736-1420, or at
the Tropicana Box Office, located on the 1st floor of the North Tower. Show
times on select dates are Sunday 3:00PM and 8:00PM, Monday 8:00PM, Tuesday
3:00PM and 8:00PM, Wednesday 3:00PM and 8:00PM.
Let those happy, dancing feet tap right into your heart in what promises to
be one of the most spectacular productions ever staged in the Tropicana
Showroom.
Juicy steaks meet smooth jazz with the
Michael Pedicin Trio at Wellington’s
– Wellington’s, the popular steak and seafood restaurant located on the
casino floor at The Tropicana Casino & Resort, has an exciting new addition
to its menu. Dinner guests can now enjoy the soulful sounds of the Michael
Pedicin Jazz Trio every Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. until midnight.
The Michael Pedicin Jazz Trio consists of a piano, upright bass and the
tenor jazz saxophone stylings of renowned artist Michael Pedicin. A
consistent figure in contemporary instrumental music, Michael Pedicin has
always maintained his devotion and commitment to his roots.
For those who don't yet know Pedicin, he began his career as a young
saxophonist in Philadelphia, being mentioned in Downbeat Magazine as “the
most exciting soloist in the entire three day jazz festival.” Following
those early college years, Pedicin began a ten year stint with Gamble and
Huff's Philadelphia International Records as a busy studio musician and
touring saxophonist with The O'Jays, David Bowie, Lou Rawls, Stevie Wonder,
MFSB, and many other acts that felt compelled to record at the famous Sigma
Sound Studios.
This period of studio recording and touring brought Pedicin to a decision to
stay off of the road for a while, so that he could be present while he and
his wife, Sherry, were raising a family. They chose a move to Atlantic City,
as it was fast becoming a good place for musicians and performers to find
steady employment. Michael became the musical director at the Tropicana in
1984 and remained in that position, while still maintaining an active
recording and touring schedule, until 1999.
As a tenor saxophonist, this veteran has a sound that is entirely his own,
evolved through the grand tradition, and as organic and visceral as the horn
can produce. Pedicin has now established a musical group that is powerfully
focused upon creating exciting, uncompromising and utterly musical jazz in
the purest tradition.
Virtuosity and straightforward musicality, total accessibility and
adventurous exploration, splendid interplay with exciting solo excursions…
Michael Pedicin and his trio are sure to make your next meal at Wellington’s
a rare and special occasion.
